Kindergarten and 1st Grade

Project Title: Dinosaur Poetry
Description:
  • K-1 student artists learned the difference between an author and an illustrator.  A poem, "My Dinosaur", by David L. Harrison was read.  Each student chose one line in the poem to illustrate.  Crayon was used to outline the dinosaur themselves and additional details.  Next, watercolor painting was introduced.  Last, salt was applied to the wet dinosaurs resulting in a mottled and rough texture.
